What is the left eye cycloplegic refraction?
LE Nearly normal
In my opinion give full cycloplegic correction, evaluate VA 3 months later, and decide for amblyopia treatment
How many hours is it possible to wear glasses
is it with closure to the other eye
I think this child has significant anisometropia which should not be corrected depending on glasses as this will create anisekonia. I think she needs contact lens for right eye and glasses for both eyes. After that more accurate evaluation of her esotropia will be possible . Also amblyopia should be adressed and treated appropriately. Note that correction of high degrees of myopia with glasses will cause image minification and may underestimate BCVA.
I have many cases where glasses are very well tolerated at this age, and in general it is an axial myopia and the aniseikonia is not as important as when it's not axial. Moreover, in such cases in general we need to patch the good eye all the day for long time, so glasses would be a good choice at least until treating amblyopia, and I always prefer glasses in children every time it's possible because of the problems encountered with contact lenses in children
Thanks a lot Dr Zineb
You are welcome Dr @wajieda_s , just to correct my answer when speaking about amblyopia I thought VA was 20/50. With 20/25 there is no amblyopia as the colleagues mentioned in their comments, so no need for occlusion. But please check the highest VA of the best eye, don't stop at 20/20, if the difference between LE and RE is more than 2 lines it's relative amblyopia that should be managed, even if the myopic eye has a good VA 20/25.
